In November 2026, runners and walkers will converge on North Devon for an unforgettable series of ultra-distance races along the rugged and picturesque coastline. The lineup includes four distinct routes catering to various distances and skill levels: the grueling North Coast 110 Mile Ultra, the challenging Hartland Coast Ultra, the scenic North Coast 110 KM Ultra, and the stunning Exmoor Coast Ultra. The North Coast 110 Mile Ultra, starting from Hartland Quay on November 7th at 7:30 AM, is a true test for seasoned ultramarathoners. This route spans an incredible distance of 110 miles (178 km) and demands nearly 6,000 meters of elevation gain in just over two days. Participants will traverse the hilly terrain from Hartland Quay through Clovelly to Westward Ho!, before moving along the flat coastal path around Torridge and Taw estuaries towards Barnstaple. The Hartland Coast Ultra also begins at Hartland Quay on November 7th, but with a more manageable distance of 65 kilometers (40.3 miles) to be completed within approximately half the time frame compared to its longer counterpart. This route follows much of the North Coast 110 Mile Ultra's path until it diverges towards Barnstaple, where runners will enjoy a flatter and less challenging final stretch. For those seeking an adventure that starts under the moonlight, the North Coast 110 KM Ultra departs from Barnstaple on November 7th at 8:30 PM. This event covers 114 kilometers (70 miles) over a period of up to 25 hours and includes an initial flat section along the Taw estuary before ascending towards Braunton Burrows, Saunton Sands, Croyde Bay, Baggy Point, Woolacombe Sands, Morte Point, Bull Point Lighthouse, Lee Bay, Ilfracombe, Combe Martin, and finally joining up with runners from other routes. The Exmoor Coast Ultra, set to begin on November 8th at 7:30 AM in Combe Martin and concluding in Minehead some 14 hours later, is a breathtaking journey through the Exmoor National Park. This route offers panoramic views of coastal woodlands, towering cliffs like Great Hangman (244 meters), and the highest point on the South West Coast Path at Culbone Hill (433 meters). The course winds its way along the Bristol Channel coastline for 58 kilometers (36 miles). Additionally, there's a shorter but equally scenic option: the Exmoor Coast Challenge. Starting from Lynton Cricket Club and finishing in Minehead on November 8th at 10:30 AM, this event covers 38 kilometers (24 miles) over approximately 11 hours. It provides an excellent opportunity for runners and walkers to experience a portion of the Exmoor Coast Ultra without committing to its full length. All events offer pre-race transportation options from various locations to ensure participants can focus on their adventure rather than logistics. Whether you're tackling the longest route under moonlit skies or exploring the beauty of coastal Devon at dawn, these races promise an unforgettable experience along North Devon's dramatic and diverse coastline.
