North West Trail Running Series - Round 5 (Mount Gnomon Farm)
About the Event
Round 5 of the North West Trail Running Series invites you to explore The Dial Range near Penguin under the cover of night. With three distinct courses—18 km, 12 km, and 4.6 km—you can choose your adventure depending on your endurance level and comfort with nighttime running. Grab your headlamp as you navigate rugged trails illuminated only by starlight and distant lanterns. The event kicks off at Mount Gnomon Farm, where bib collection is available both Friday evening (time to be confirmed) and Saturday morning before the race begins. Entry fees range from $45 for the short course to $65 for the long distance run; on-the-day entries incur an additional charge of $10. For participants under 13, adult supervision is mandatory throughout the entire route, while those aged at least 13 can tackle the medium and longer courses. The event emphasizes safety by ensuring that all young runners have the necessary fitness and outdoor skills to complete their chosen distance safely in low light conditions. Post-race festivities continue with camping options available right on site at Mount Gnomon Farm, offering a chance for participants to extend their adventure into the night or rest up before heading home. Campers can choose from unpowered sites ($10 per person), powered sites ($30 per person), and glamping accommodations (contact Guy directly for pricing). To secure your spot, contact Guy at 0448 067 779. The farm provides essential amenities including toilets and showers. The event celebrates inclusivity and acknowledges the Traditional Custodians of the land—palawa people of lutruwita—and honors their Elders past, present, and emerging. Join us on August 27, 2027 for an unforgettable night run through Tasmania’s scenic Dial Range.
