Northeast Velodrome Try the Track Clinic - 09/12/2026
About the Event
Experience the unique thrill of track cycling with our comprehensive clinic designed for beginners at the Northeast Velodrome. This dedicated training session will equip you with essential skills and knowledge, transforming your understanding of this exhilarating discipline. The clinic is structured into three key components: 1. Mastering Fixed Gear Cycling: Learn to navigate the nuances of riding a fixed gear bike—how to start and stop without brakes, and how to control speed through pedal spinning. 2. Close Riding Techniques: Develop skills in maintaining proximity with other riders while pedaling continuously, mastering the art of holding your line around tight turns. 3. Track Etiquette & Racing Strategies: Gain insight into track-specific rules and conventions, including paceline formation and racing tactics that leverage the banking and turns to maintain speed. Participants will engage in practical exercises designed to familiarize them with various aspects: - Understanding the unique feel of using the banking for acceleration and deceleration. - Learning the terminology associated with different lanes on the velodrome. - Communicating effectively with fellow riders through non-verbal cues essential for smooth racing. By the end of this intensive clinic, you will possess both theoretical knowledge and practical experience in track cycling. You'll appreciate how fixed gear riding differs from traditional road or mountain biking, offering a distinct challenge that rewards precision and technique. All necessary equipment is provided at no extra cost; however, participants are required to bring their own pedals and shoes along with a helmet. Please provide your frame size and saddle height (measured from the center of the crank axle to the top of the saddle) if known, as this will help in customizing your rental bike for optimal fit. Join us on November 10th at Northeast Velodrome, where eight eager participants can embark together on a journey into the world of track cycling. Successful completion grants certification allowing access to all other events hosted by our venue. Cost: $30 Field Limit: 8 Participants (Rental Included) Certification upon successful completion
