Occoneechee State Park Annual Turkey Trot

The 5K Race and one-mile kids fun run is conducted in scenic Occoneechee State Park which borders John Kerr Lake and the attractive lake front town of Clarksville VA... The 5K course consists of paved roads, rolling hills, and lake views as it winds through wooded areas of the park. Participants will receive swag bags and refreshments.  A raffle for gift certificates and merchandise donated by local businesses will take place following the race.   Participants and spectators can also enjoy cornhole games and try out Disc Golf baskets, offering a preview of the 18-hole Disc Golf Course currently under construction at the park.  All proceeds directly benefit Occoneechee State Park by providing funding for projects such as an ADA compliant fishing dock, 18-hole Disc Golf Course, and many other park events, enhancements, and environmental projects.  The 5K event is sponsored by the Friends of Occoneechee State Park, a volunteer nonprofit organization.

When: November 22, 2025 (Rain or Shine)

• Registration ends on November 16, 2025

What: 1 Mile kids’ Fun Run/Walk — 10 am

• Who: Children 13 and under Parental assistance and strollers are welcome. 
• All children that participate in the 1 mile Kids Fun Run will receive a medal.
• Participants will receive swag bags and refreshments

What: 5K Fun Run/Walk — 11 am

• Who: All ages, walk, run, hop, skip or crawl 
• (Well-mannered leashed pets & costumes welcome)
• Participants will receive swag bags and refreshments
• A raffle for gift certificates and merchandise will take place following the race.  
• This event will be officially timed and measured

Medals will be awarded to the top three overall male and female finishers of the 5K and top finisher in the following age groups.

Age 19 and Under
Age 20 - 29
Age 30 - 39
Age 40 - 49
Age 50 - 59
Age 60 - 69
Age 70 and Up 

• Park entry fee is $7.00 or donate 4 cans of food that will be donated to the local food bank
• Donations are welcome and appreciated
• Race Packets will be available on the day of the event

Late registration is November 17 – November 19.  
5K Run - $35.00
Kids 1 Mile Fun Run - $20.00
You may also register late in person 45 minutes before each race on the day of the event, cash only.
