Oktoberfest 5k

The Oktoberfest 5K returns to Bluffton, Indiana on October 10th, 2026. This race takes runners through the charming streets of downtown Bluffton and along paths in nearby parks. Participants can choose between a one-mile pretzel dash or the main event, the five-kilometer Oktoberfest run.
Race morning finds participants gathered at the historic Main Street Park, where vendors set up booths selling local craft beers and German-inspired foods. The atmosphere is festive with live music playing from an outdoor stage. Runners will pass by Bluffton’s iconic red-brick buildings and enjoy views of the gently rolling hills that surround town.
This event has been a tradition in Bluffton for over 10 years, growing each year to support local charities. Last year saw more than 250 participants from all around Indiana join together to run or dash through Bluffton's picturesque streets while raising funds for scholarships and community programs.
The course follows Main Street Park before heading onto the scenic trails in nearby Beulah Woods Nature Preserve. The terrain offers a mix of paved paths, occasional grassy sections, and gentle inclines that provide a varied challenge but remain navigable throughout. Runners can look forward to passing by several landmarks such as the Bluffton Fountain and the historic Bluffton United Methodist Church.
The 5K starts at Main Street Park with runners making their way through winding streets before heading into Beulah Woods for approximately half of the course distance, returning along a flat route back towards downtown. Elevation changes are minimal but noticeable in some sections, particularly near the park entrance and exit points. Aid stations will be set up every kilometer to provide water and snacks.
On race morning, expect temperatures around 14 degrees Celsius with humidity at 65%, making it feel quite comfortable for running. A light breeze of about 13.8 kilometers per hour might add a slight chill but won't impede performance much. Precipitation is not expected, so runners can focus on enjoying the crisp autumn air.
