Trace the historic path that defined the global marathon distance at the extraordinary Original Marathon IX on Saturday, March 7, 2026. This unique event recreates the legendary 1908 Olympic course, starting at Windsor Castle and finishing near the original White City Stadium—the very route that established the 26.2-mile standard. Run in the footsteps of Dorando Pietri and the pioneers of the sport, experiencing a living piece of athletic history on the open roads of London. Every finisher is awarded a beautiful replica of the 1908 Olympic medal and a "Diploma of Merit," seamlessly connecting your achievement to the legacy of that fateful, sweltering July day.
More than just a marathon, this is a pilgrimage for running purists and history enthusiasts alike, celebrating the dramatic story that captivated the world and solidified the marathon's iconic distance. The event honors the legacy of the subsequent Polytechnic Marathon, a race that saw eight world records, by reviving its spirit for a modern audience. With options to run for charity partner Aspire and purchase commemorative knotted handkerchiefs, the experience is thoughtfully curated from start to finish. This is your chance to become part of an enduring narrative, where every stride connects you to the very origins of the marathon as we know it.

Windsor is a historic town in the Royal Borough of Windsor and Maidenhead in Berkshire, England. It is the site of Windsor Castle, one of the official residences of the British monarch. The town is situated 21.8 miles (35.1 km) west of Charing Cross, central London, 5.8 miles (9.3 km) southeast of Maidenhead, and 15.8 miles (25.4 km) east of the modern county town of Reading. It is immediately south of the River Thames, which forms its boundary with its smaller, ancient twin town of Eton.
