About the Event

This ekiden puts teams of visually impaired runners and general teams on the same course, as a practical expression of normalization. Teams of four, from junior high school age up, cover about 20.4 km in stages of 6.8 km, 3.4 km, 3.4 km and 6.8 km. General teams may be general (one woman or fewer) or mixed (two women or more), while visually impaired teams may be mixed and need at least two guide runners on ropes. Late runners are sent off in a staggered start for race management reasons.
A 3.4 km walk is also offered for visually impaired participants. The event takes place in Osaka.
