Welcome to the Oskarshamn Backyard Marathon on Sunday, October 25, 2026. This unique race offers runners an innovative way to complete a full marathon distance of 42.195 kilometers within six hours in a backyard format.
The event takes place at Havslätts Motionsområde in Oskarshamn and features five laps of 6.7km each, followed by one final lap of 8.7km during the sixth hour. This allows participants to enjoy the scenic and relatively flat motion track around Oskarshamn while gradually building up their distance over time.
Registration for numbers starts at 8:00 AM with late entries available until then as well. The race officially begins at 9:00 AM, with runners setting off one after another every hour on the hour during the first five hours. At 2:00 PM, participants start their final lap of 8.7km.
The motion track is easily accessible and provides a pleasant route for all skill levels, though it does feature some slight elevation changes to keep things interesting. A key highlight is the presence of Havslätts loge where runners can take shelter from any weather conditions between laps. This area also serves as an energy station offering sports drinks, water, and grilled sausages for participants.
For those who wish to change clothes or freshen up after a lap, there are changing rooms with showers and sauna facilities located just 100 meters away in the motion garden. A special prize awaits runners at the finish line: "The Tire Prize" is awarded during the third lap as part of the fun competition.
Additional attractions include an exhibition area open from 11:00 AM to 3:30 PM, featuring local vendors and sponsors. For younger racers aged 3-12 years old, there's a dedicated children’s race starting at 11:10 AM with on-site registration until 10:55 AM.
Awards are presented for the top three finishers in both men’s and women’s categories, while all participants have a chance to win raffle prizes such as hotel nights, massages, and more. The first fifty registrants receive an exclusive hat upon sign-up.
