OSS/CIA 50 Mile Night Run

Embark on an epic journey through Prince William Forest Park, where history whispers along every trail. This sprawling 15,000-acre expanse was once home to clandestine training grounds for the Office of Strategic Services (OSS), a precursor to today’s Central Intelligence Agency (CIA). The OSS/CIA 50 Miler invites you to explore these historic trails on foot.
The race course is a challenging 25+ mile loop, primarily consisting of single-track paths with some fire road segments and several crossings over National Park Service roads. Runners will complete this loop twice for an overall distance exceeding 50 miles. In the spirit of adventure, starting in 2023, participants have the option to tackle a night marathon beginning at midnight sharp, giving them just under nine hours to cover one full loop.
Aid stations are strategically placed throughout the course to ensure runners can refuel and hydrate effectively. The main station is located at Telegraph Road Pavilion near the start/finish line, offering comprehensive supplies for both day and night races. Another primary aid station sits halfway through each loop at Oak Ridge Campground. In addition, two smaller "mini-aid" stations provide essential hydration and energy drinks along South Valley Trail and Burma Road.
For safety reasons, crews are permitted only at the Telegraph Road Pavilion start/finish line area. Pacers can join runners starting from the second lap onwards, enhancing support during the latter stages of the race. All crew members must be present before nightfall to comply with National Park Service regulations.
