Otsuouzu Cycling 2026 (奥出雲サイクリング2026)

Cycle through the scenic town of Okuizumo, designated as one of Japan's Globally Important Agricultural Heritage Systems! This beloved cycling event returns for its annual run and promises an unforgettable journey through some of Japan’s most stunning landscapes. The route winds through a picturesque countryside that was once home to traditional tatara iron-making techniques, offering cyclists breathtaking views of lush greenery and historical sites.
One highlight along the course is the "Sakuraiya House," known as Kabe-ya Integrated Building, which served as a filming location for the immensely popular TV drama "VIVANT." This historic setting provides an opportunity to explore a unique blend of architecture and natural beauty. The autumn month of October marks the beginning of colorful foliage season, making this ride even more enchanting with its backdrop of tailoring reds and golds across rolling hills.
The cycling route also takes participants along the serene shores of Ohara Dam Lake where cyclists can enjoy riding against a backdrop of expansive nature while feeling the cool breeze on their faces. The event is designed to cater not only to those who love cycling but also to food enthusiasts eager to experience Okuizumo's culinary delights, such as its renowned beef and local rice dishes.
Upon reaching the finish line, participants are treated to an array of traditional foods including unlimited servings of grilled "Okuizumo Wagyu" beef and steamed rice from the region’s famous variety. This is complemented by a hearty bowl of pork soup, providing sustenance for those weary legs after a day's ride.
