Our Fallen Hero 5K Run/Walk in Memory of PFC Aaron Toppen

Join us on September 26, 2023, as we commemorate PFC Aaron Toppen during the 13th Annual Our Fallen Hero 5K Run/Walk. This race honors those who have made extraordinary sacrifices for their community and country.
The course spans a scenic 3.1 miles through the streets of Mokena, Illinois, including Townline Road—now named PFC Memorial Drive—a fitting tribute to our fallen heroes. Participants will experience a USATF-certified route that weaves through picturesque neighborhoods and charming local landmarks.
All pre-registered runners receive a custom-designed wicking T-shirt along with an array of goodies from generous sponsors and partners. On race day, warm up sessions are provided by Spenga, followed by live entertainment from a DJ to set the perfect pace for your run or walk.
Post-race festivities include an awards ceremony where winners will be celebrated, complete with refreshments from Berkots—fresh bananas, apples, and other local treats. Don't miss out on our exciting raffle (tickets available onsite), offering one free entry when you register between July 1st and August 15th. The grand prize is a table-top solo stove valued at $200.
Proceeds from the event will support year-round programs by USO of Illinois, enhancing the lives of service members and their families through initiatives like reading programs, canine assistance, care packages, gaming facilities, and centers in Midway Airport, Great Lakes Naval Station, O'Hare Terminals 2 & 3, and Rock Island Arsenal.
All participants must complete the course within 60 minutes. Awards will be given to overall male and female winners, as well as first-place finishers in each age category for both genders. A special military discount is available: use code "Military2026" at registration for active military members and veterans.
