The Parc Naturel Régional des Pyrénées Ariégeoises is renowned for its rich tapestry of diverse landscapes, ranging from verdant valleys and rolling hills to rugged mountain peaks. The park's unique geography includes picturesque prairies dotted with wildflowers in the Volvestre region, towering mountains in Couserans and Vicdessos, and dramatic limestone cliffs in Plantaurel.
The cycling routes are meticulously crafted to showcase these varied terrains, featuring both challenging climbs and serene stretches that wind through dense forests. Participants will traverse a mix of small mountain roads with significant elevation changes and technical gravel paths that offer thrilling single-track sections. Both the 350-kilometer route and the shorter 150-kilometer option provide riders with an immersive experience, allowing them to immerse themselves in the park's natural beauty.
For those choosing the road cycling path, it is recommended to have a minimum tire width of 25mm tubeless. Gravel enthusiasts are advised to opt for tires ranging from 40mm up to 46mm tubeless, ensuring optimal grip and comfort on varied surfaces. VTT bikes are also welcome, though electric-assisted bicycles (VAE) are not permitted due to the challenging terrain.
The event accommodates a maximum of 100 participants, with departures scheduled for Saturday, September 5th at 8:00 AM and Sunday, September 6th at 8:00 AM. The final cutoff time is set for Monday, September 7th around noon.
