Embark on an exhilarating journey through the rugged landscapes of the Peak District with Peak Raid 2026. This series comprises four thrilling races spread across autumn and winter, each offering runners the freedom to explore at their own pace over diverse terrains. From challenging high moorland requiring precise navigation skills to more runnable limestone dales equipped with well-marked footpaths, these events cater to a wide range of abilities and preferences. Each 3-hour race allows participants to craft their route according to personal fitness levels, weather conditions, and terrain challenges. The inaugural event kicks off on September 20th in Hayfield, followed by races in Edale (October 18th), Eastern Moors South (November 15th), and Alstonefield (December 6th). Competitors can choose to run solo or as a pair, making it an ideal opportunity for both individual achievement and team camaraderie. Registration begins at 7:30 am on race days, with start times allocated in five-minute intervals between 8 am and 10 am. It’s recommended that participants arrive early to ensure smooth entry into the event. All runners are required to adhere strictly to the FRA Mandatory Minimum Kit guidelines for safety reasons. This includes a waterproof jacket and trousers, hat, gloves, map, compass, whistle, emergency food, and an additional survival bag. Race officials will check each participant's kit before allowing them to start. Upon arrival at registration, competitors receive a detailed waterproof map along with control descriptions and point values on the backside. The objective is simple yet challenging: accumulate as many points as possible within the three-hour window by visiting various checkpoints strategically placed throughout the course. Late arrivals incur penalty deductions from their total score. The series includes 15 categories in all, ten of which are for solo or paired runners and five specifically designed for mixed pairs. Age classifications are determined based on each runner's age at December 31st, 2026. Prizes will be awarded to the top three finishers in each category provided that a minimum of two races have been completed. For those curious about canine companionship during these adventures, please note that dogs are not permitted due to landowner restrictions and wildlife protection concerns.
