Experience the joy of cycling at the Pigeon Creek Park Kids Mountain Bike Festival, designed exclusively for young riders aged 2 to 15. Join us on Saturday, August 15, from 9:00 to 11:00 am, and celebrate biking in a fun-filled environment surrounded by nature. The festival is more than just racing; it's a vibrant community event where kids can enjoy the thrill of mountain biking with their friends and family. Whether you're a seasoned rider or new to balance bikes, there’s an activity tailored for every young explorer: - For our youngest participants, the Young Birds category offers a half-mile race on balance bikes (suitable for children aged 18 months to 3 years), starting at 9:00 am.
- The Homing Pigeons category welcomes beginner mountain bikers with a one-mile race. Recommended ages are between 3 and 5, depending on the rider's ability, kicking off at 9:30 am. - For intermediate riders aged 6 to 9 (ability-dependent), the Baja Tumblers category provides a challenging yet exciting 2.5-mile route. This event begins promptly at 10:00 am.
- Racing Homers is reserved for experienced young mountain bikers, ages 10 to 15 (ability-dependent). The five-mile race will start at 10:45 am. Online registration closes on August 11 at 9 pm. Race day registration from 8:30 am is also available; the cost is $40 for one- or five-mile races, and just $20 for the Young Birds Balance Bike Race. All proceeds will support Velo Kids programming, aimed at getting more kids on bikes and providing scholarships for bike camps and clubs. Your participation not only brings joy to our young riders but also contributes to their future adventures in cycling. Remember, while the race will have a competitive feel, it is intentionally un-timed to ensure that every participant enjoys the experience.
