Lakeland's Premier Time Trial Event: Perezluha Coaching Series Mark your calendars for the 2026 Perezluha Coaching Time Trial Series, set to take place at Florida Polytechnic University. This exciting series caters to a wide array of categories and age groups—ranging from juniors to seasoned cyclists. Participants will experience a unique blend of competitive racing and coaching support, making it an ideal event for both novice and experienced riders. The series spans ten dates throughout the year: February 15th, March 15th, April 12th, May 24th, June 7th, July 5th (with a special Firetower race), August 16th, September 20th, October 11th, and November 8th. Each event begins with registration opening at 7:15 am on the designated start date. A structured warm-up session is scheduled from 8:10 to 8:40 am, led by a coach who will provide insights into course previewing, safety briefings for u-turns, pacing tips, and wind forecasts. This preparation ensures that participants are well-prepared for their rides. The race courses vary in distance and offer diverse challenges: - An 8-mile time trial out and back with two turnarounds - A 15-kilometer course featuring three turnarounds - A special edition 8.5 mile route These routes provide a perfect setting for cyclists to test their power, enjoy the scenic Florida countryside, and experience minimal traffic while utilizing bike lanes. Participants will compete across various categories: - Open riders (ages 14-99) - Pro through Cat 5 - 15-kilometer racers starting at u-turn 2 - Handcycles - Paracycles - Juniors - Women and men on road bikes, both Merckx style and aero-style time trial bikes - Two-person team time trials and tandem events For those aiming for the Merckx category, specific equipment restrictions apply. Cyclists must declare their choice at registration or in the staging area to avoid reclassification. After each race, awards will be handed out per category with podiums recognizing top three finishers. A group ride follows, offering a 30-50 mile route for all participants to enjoy together post-race festivities. The overall series features an engaging points system where the best eight results contribute towards final standings. Medals and trophies await winners in each category, along with special jerseys awarded to champions across categories. Prepare yourself for an unforgettable experience that combines competitive riding with supportive coaching. Register now for your chance to compete against some of Florida’s finest cyclists at this premier time trial event! Parking is conveniently located on Research Way near the west junction of Research Way and University Blvd., just a short walk from the start area. Enjoy the ride!
