About the Event
The 988 Run Out of the Darkness, now in its fourth year, invites participants to join forces with the Perkasie Rotary Club and Free Will Brewing Company for an empowering run through Lenape Park. This annual race aims to raise funds and awareness for NAMI Bucks County, a local chapter dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by mental illness. The event offers both 5K and 10K distances, starting at the baseball fields off Walnut Street in Perkasie. The course loops around scenic Lenape Park, providing runners with an opportunity to enjoy beautiful greenery while contributing to a meaningful cause. Participants can switch from one distance to another until after completing their first loop; those who enter the chute following this initial lap will be credited with having completed the 5K. Walkers are also welcome but must stick to the shorter route, ensuring that everyone has an opportunity to participate at their own pace and comfort level. All runners receive a high-quality short sleeve tech shirt upon registration. For participants over the age of 21, there's an added treat: a free beer coupon from Free Will Brewing Company. Free Will will open its doors early at 10:30 AM to accommodate those wishing to celebrate their achievement post-race or simply unwind with friends and fellow runners. With ample parking available right next to the baseball fields, getting to the start line is convenient for all attendees. The park's proximity to Free Will Brewing Company means that participants can easily transition from race day festivities straight into a relaxed atmosphere.
