Petzl Tunnel Vision

Immerse yourself in an extraordinary running experience with Petzl Tunnel Vision Night & Dawn Runs. This unique race offers runners two distinct challenges: a night run and a dawn run, each featuring the historic Oxendon Tunnel as its centerpiece.
The 5-mile out-and-back course is designed to cater to both seasoned athletes seeking a test of endurance and newcomers looking for an exhilarating challenge. The route winds through darkened landscapes before plunging into the heart of the Oxendon Tunnel—a daunting yet awe-inspiring stretch that stretches over 400 meters in length.
The Night Run commences at 7:30 PM on Thursday, November 5th, while the Dawn Run kicks off early morning at 6:30 AM on Friday, November 6th. Participants can choose to enter one or both events, each offering a unique atmosphere and breathtaking scenery as you navigate through the tunnel.
The tunnel itself is illuminated with mood lighting, providing just enough ambiance for runners to make their way through its pitch-black depths using headtorches. The Dawn Run adds an extra layer of beauty, allowing participants to witness sunrise upon exiting the tunnel—a moment that promises both awe and serenity.
For those under 14 years old, this event is not available due to safety regulations. Entry registration closes seven days before each race, with options for early collection of your race number, timing chip, or pre-ordered t-shirt at Harborough Leisure Centre on Wednesday, November 4th between 6 PM and 8 PM.
Race day starts off smoothly as participants gather near the Protheroes garage entrance on Scotland Road behind Rookwell Drive. Professional first aid support will be available throughout both races, along with Race Harborough volunteers stationed strategically to ensure safety and provide assistance where needed.
Participants are advised to wear trail or road shoes suitable for hard-packed surfaces and bring a headtorch due to uneven terrain within the tunnel. The race concludes with rewarding prizes awarded to top male and female finishers in each category, alongside specially designed event medals that interlink if both runs are completed.
To celebrate your achievement post-race, enjoy hot beverages and snacks after the Night Run or indulge in orange juice and croissants following the Dawn Run. Free digital race photos will also be made available for all participants through Race Harborough's Facebook page shortly after each event concludes.
