PFW Running - Granny's Bay Challenge

Returning for its sixth consecutive year, this beloved race continues to attract runners from far and wide. Nestled along the picturesque coast of Lytham, the seaside town offers an idyllic setting for what promises to be another memorable day of running.
The event kicks off at the Fylde Spitfire Memorial, a poignant tribute that sets the tone for the journey ahead. From there, runners will embark on the newly opened coastal path, offering stunning views and fresh sea breezes as they make their way past Fairhaven Lake. The route then takes you through Granny's Bay before arriving at Lytham Green, where panoramic vistas await.
On one side of the green stands the historic Lytham Windmill, a charming landmark that adds character to your run. To the other side lies an expansive view across the Ribble estuary towards Southport and even North Wales on clear days. The course then loops back along this scenic path for runners aiming to complete multiple laps.
For those looking to challenge themselves with longer distances, the marathon option entails five full circuits of the 5.24-mile looped route. Meanwhile, half-marathon participants will tackle two full laps followed by a shorter 2.62 mile section before finishing strong at the Fylde Spitfire Memorial. All runners who complete even one lap are considered finishers and receive an official time along with a commemorative medal.
The flat tarmac path ensures smooth running conditions throughout, perfect for both competitive athletes and recreational runners alike. With no strict distance limitations beyond 18 years of age (where marathon completions require being at least 20), this event caters to all levels of experience while providing the flexibility to run as much or as little as you wish within the generous six-hour window.
