The event kicks off with the full marathon beginning at 8:00 AM and the half marathon following shortly after at 9:00 AM. Aid stations are strategically placed approximately every three to four miles, offering Gatorade and water to keep runners hydrated throughout their journey. Trail fare and carbohydrates will be available for energy replenishment along the route, though participants should consider bringing their own gels if they rely on them. The race features manual bib timing via the UltraSignup app, requiring all runners to wear their number prominently at the front of their clothing as they approach the finish line. Upon crossing the finish, athletes will be greeted with live music and a pizza party. Every participant receives an impressive Philadelphia-themed medal for completing the course, while top overall and age group winners receive trophies. Age groups are 29 & under, 30-39, 40-49, 50-59, 60-69, with special recognition given to those aged 70+. The race concludes at 4:00 PM, allowing ample time for super hikers and trail runners alike to complete the half marathon or full marathon within an eight-hour window. The course itself is predominantly single-track trails with rolling hills and technical sections featuring rocks and roots that test every runner’s grit and determination. Proceeds from this event support educational programs at Houston Playground Recreational Center, ensuring a meaningful contribution to the local community while fostering appreciation for Wissahickon Valley Park's natural beauty.
