Phoenix Running Devon invites runners to immerse themselves in the captivating landscape of Dartmoor for 'Dartmoor Myths & Legends' - The Hairy Hands. This unique race, part of their ‘Run Your Wray’ series, offers an enchanting journey through the serene Parke Estate along the River Bovey.
Participants can choose from a range of distances including 5km to ultra marathon options, all set on a picturesque 3.28-mile out-and-back course that winds through the scenic Wray Valley Trail. The route is designed for flexibility; runners may complete as many laps as they wish within a generous time limit of up to seven hours.
The terrain offers an ideal blend of fast and flat sections along riverside footpaths, with minimal elevation gain per lap—just 31 meters—to ensure smooth running conditions. This course caters to all levels of ability; whether you're aiming for one lap or pushing your limits over multiple laps, every finisher will receive a specially designed event medal.
The race day experience is further enhanced by the 'rock up and run' start time flexibility, allowing participants to begin their journey whenever they arrive. This ensures no waiting around if you’re early and reduces pressure if you need more time to prepare before starting your adventure.

Bovey Tracey is a town and civil parish in Devon, England. It is located on the edge of Dartmoor, which gives rise to the slogan used on the town's boundary signs: The Gateway to the Moor. It is often known locally as Bovey. About 10 miles (16 km) south-west of Exeter, it lies on the A382 road, about halfway between Newton Abbot and Moretonhampstead. The village is at the centre of the electoral ward of Bovey. At the 2024 census, it had a population of 8,204, which was an increase on the 7,168 recorded in the 2011 census.
