PHOENIX - South Wales - Kingfisher Run

About the Event

Join Phoenix Running South Wales on Sunday, August 2nd, 2026, at Parc Cwm Darran in Deri, Bargoed, for the KINGFISHER RUN. This unique timed event offers runners and walkers a flexible format to challenge themselves along an out-and-back course through the picturesque park.
The route is a scenic 3.28-mile (5.3km) loop that winds around Parc Cwm Darran's serene lake, offering stunning views of Fochriw in the distance. Participants can choose their own adventure by completing as many laps as they wish within the event’s generous seven-hour time limit. Whether you're looking to run a half marathon or push yourself towards an ultra-distance goal, this flexible format allows for personal pacing and ambition.
The course is entirely on tarmac with minimal elevation gain per lap of 63 meters, making it ideal for all levels of runners and walkers. The event promises no waiting around as participants can start at any time between 8:30am and registration opening from 7:30am ensures a smooth entry process.
A key highlight is the bespoke finisher’s medal that every participant receives upon completion, part of Phoenix Running South Wales' celebrated "super spinning" series. The event also offers an optional 'no medal' entry for £20 to make participation more accessible while still providing all other benefits such as same-day results and digital certificates.
Participants can expect a well-supported race with epic aid stations throughout the course, ensuring that hydration and energy needs are met no matter how far you decide to run. The event is licensed by Welsh Athletics and features a certificate of course accuracy issued by AUKCM, guaranteeing an accurate distance measurement for all efforts made on this scenic route.
Don't miss out on this opportunity to explore Parc Cwm Darran's beauty while setting your own personal goals in the KINGFISHER RUN. Spaces are limited, so secure yours early and be a part of what promises to be a memorable day in Bargoed.
