PHOENIX - South Wales - Lest We Forget 2026

About the Event

On Saturday, November 14th, 2026, Phoenix Running South Wales invites you back to Cardiff Bay for the poignant and flexible LEST WE FORGET race. This unique timed event allows participants to choose their own distance, from a brisk 5km loop around scenic Cardiff Bay up to an ultra marathon challenge over multiple laps of the picturesque route.
The course winds through iconic landmarks such as the Norwegian Church where Roald Dahl was christened, the Barrage Control Centre, and the striking Wales Millennium Centre. Runners will also pass by the historic Pierhead Building and the futuristic Torchwood Tower, offering a blend of architectural history and modernity. Each lap covers 5.3 kilometers (3.28 miles), providing an out-and-back course that showcases the bay's stunning waterfront.
Participants can start at any time during the event’s seven-hour window, ensuring flexibility for all schedules. Whether you're running early in the morning or late into the afternoon, there will be no pressure to adhere to a strict starting lineup. The route is entirely paved and includes just one short section on wooden boardwalks, making it accessible yet engaging.
Phoenix Running South Wales prides itself on delivering top-notch race experiences with comprehensive support services like aid stations stocked with refreshments and medical assistance if needed. Same-day results are available for all participants through digital BIB tracking and finishers certificates.
To cater to different preferences and budgets, the event offers a "no medal" entry option starting at £20, which covers basic costs while still providing essential race amenities without physical memorabilia. This flexible approach ensures that everyone can participate regardless of their financial situation or distance goals.
For those planning to drive, parking is available near The Lock Keepers Cottage car park with the postcode CF10 4PA; however, Harbour Drive itself offers only a limited three-hour stay for day visitors. Public transport options are also readily accessible within Cardiff Bay.
This event holds significant historical and sporting value as it commemorates sacrifices made during times of conflict while offering an inclusive platform for all abilities to push their limits in a supportive environment. With its flat terrain, scenic views, and flexible start times, LEST WE FORGET promises a memorable experience that honors the past while celebrating individual achievements.
Don't miss out on this unique opportunity to run through Cardiff Bay's rich tapestry of history and modernity. Secure your spot early as places are strictly limited for what is sure to be an inspiring day in memory of those who have served.

About Cardiff Bay

Learn more about the host city, Cardiff Bay.

Scenic view of

Cardiff Bay is an area and freshwater lake in Cardiff, Wales. The site of a former tidal bay and estuary, it is the river mouth of the River Taff and Ely. The body of water was converted into a 500-acre (2.0 km2) lake as part of a pre-devolution UK Government regeneration project, involving the damming of the rivers by the Cardiff Bay Barrage in 1999. The barrage impounds the rivers from the Severn Estuary, providing flood defence and the creation of a permanent non-tidal high water lake with limited access to the sea, serving as a core feature of the redevelopment of the area in the 1990s.
