The weekend kicks off with the beloved 'Painted Cow' run, inspired by the estate's whimsical painted cows outside the garden shop. In 2026, participants will have the chance to earn a unique medal featuring another iconic cow from Denbies. This event is designed for all abilities and offers runners flexibility in choosing their distance—whether you opt for a 5km or 10k jaunt, aim for a half marathon, or challenge yourself with an ultra-distance run—you can complete as many laps of the scenic 3.28-mile loop around Denbies Wine Estate within a generous 7-hour time limit. The course winds through undulating terrain and hilly trails that weave through the vineyards, providing breathtaking views at every turn. Runners are encouraged to push their limits or simply enjoy one lap as both a finisher and winner in our eyes. The event's unique 'rock up and run' format allows participants to choose from a 1.5-hour start window, ensuring you can begin your journey without waiting around. Phoenix Running is committed to providing an enriching experience with top-notch support throughout the day. This includes well-stocked aid stations, same-day results publication, digital BIBs, finisher certificates, and more—everything but the medal for a reduced entry fee of £20 if you choose not to collect one. However, our custom-designed medals are renowned in the running community, with this year's 'Painted Cow' edition set to be an epic addition to any collection.
