Experience the Pierewaai Trail, an established classic that offers runners of all levels a unique and immersive journey through nature. Scheduled for January 22, 2027, this race features several distance options to suit your preference: 15km, 25km, 50km, 70km, and the challenging 100km route. The event kicks off with a nighttime start at 8:00 PM for both the 70km and 100km races on January 22nd. The 100km race allows slower runners to begin as late as 9:00 PM, ensuring everyone has an equal opportunity to complete their chosen distance within the specified time limits of up to thirteen hours. On January 23rd, participants can start earlier in the morning for shorter distances, with the 50km starting at 6:00 AM and finishing by noon. The 25km race begins promptly at 8:00 AM, while runners opting for the 15km or 10km routes will set off half an hour later. The Pierewaai Trail is designed to be a self-supported event with limited aid stations along the way. Runners are encouraged to use their GPS devices as these courses offer straightforward navigation without traditional race markings like arrows and ribbons, allowing you to focus on your surroundings and enjoy the natural beauty of the route. Participants in the 70km and 100km races will have access to baggage transportation services from start to finish. These longer distances traverse mostly unpaved terrain, providing a challenging yet rewarding experience for trail runners looking to test their endurance against nature's rugged landscapes. Upon crossing the finish line on either day, all participants are greeted with refreshments that help fuel post-race conversations and camaraderie among fellow competitors. The event organizers provide an online dashboard where you can make adjustments up until January 15th regarding your race distance or any other preferences before the big day arrives. Whether you're a seasoned ultrarunner tackling the full 100km route or a casual participant enjoying one of the shorter distances, the Pierewaai Trail offers an unforgettable adventure through scenic Dutch landscapes.
