The Pirate's Booty returns to Geneva, Illinois on September 13th for its annual celebration of community spirit and local history. This year’s event will once again take runners through the picturesque parks and streets of downtown Geneva, offering a chance to experience the charm of this quaint city while supporting important causes in our community. Race morning begins under clear skies with temperatures expected to hover around 19 degrees Celsius, feeling much like that at ground level due to the high humidity. The air will carry a gentle breeze from the north-northeast, making for comfortable conditions as runners prepare to tackle the course. Participants can expect firm and slightly soft trail surfaces, providing both challenge and beauty along the way. The Pirate's Booty offers a 10K run, a 5K run/walk suitable for all abilities, and a fun Kids Race designed specifically for younger participants. The race will start from Geneva High School at 8:30 AM sharp, with runners weaving through the historic downtown area before heading to the beautiful Lake Morris Park. Elevation changes are minimal but provide a dynamic experience. Aid stations will be strategically placed along the course to ensure all runners have access to water and other essential items. Registration for this year's Pirate's Booty can be done via https://raceroster.com/events/2026/110224/pirates-booty. The cost is $39.44 for the 10K, $34.09 for the 5K run/walk, and just $19.11 for kids under 18 years old. Spots are limited, so register early to secure your place. Participants should plan to pick up their bibs at Geneva High School on September 12th from 3:00 PM to 7:00 PM or the day of the race starting at 6:45 AM. Bring a valid photo ID for verification and wear comfortable running gear suitable for cooler weather, as well as sunscreen given the moderate UV index. The Pirate's Booty will conclude with runners returning to Geneva High School by around 10:30 AM, where awards ceremonies and celebrations await finishers and supporters alike. This event has been a staple of Geneva’s community calendar since its inception in 2015, drawing over 400 participants each year who not only enjoy the race but also contribute to scholarships for local high school students.
