Podebrady Running

The Poděbrady 5 km Road Race is a premier speed event scheduled for Friday, May 8, 2026. Taking place in the serene environment of the Poděbrady spa park, the race features a meticulously measured and certified 1 km loop with zero elevation gain. This fast circuit serves as the venue for the official Czech National Championship in the 5 km road race, attracting the country's top elite athletes. Alongside the professional field, two public waves allow recreational runners to test their speed on the same "PR-friendly" course and earn a unique commemorative medal.

Poděbrady is a historic spa town in the Central Bohemian Region of the Czech Republic, located approximately 50 km east of Prague. With a population of about 15,000 residents, the town is celebrated for its wellness traditions and its iconic 13th-century castle. The demographic is primarily Czech, supported by a robust local economy centered on spa hospitality and the production of world-renowned Bohemia Crystal. The Lázeňská kolonáda (Spa Colonnade), where the 5 km race is held, offers a grand architectural backdrop and wind-sheltered paths, making it a favorite destination for both health-seeking tourists and professional athletes.

Participants in the 5 km races must complete five full laps of the 1 km circuit. A strict time limit of 38:00 minutes is enforced at the 4 km mark for the public runs to ensure the smooth flow of the day's schedule. Entry fees for the public race start at 450 CZK for early registrants, covering a chip-timed race number, a finisher medal featuring the spa fountain, and traditional spa wafers at the finish line. Convenient facilities, including changing areas and baggage storage, are located in the Congress Center on the colonnade. For easy access, the town's railway station is situated just a short walk from the race village.
