Polar Bear 5K Prediction Run

Join us at the 2027 Rochester Running Club Polar Bear Prediction Run, an exhilarating race that challenges both seasoned runners and newcomers alike! The event kicks off sharp at 9:00 AM CST on January 14th. Participants must start exactly when they predict their completion time will be, ensuring a fair competition. For instance, if you believe your pace will net you a perfect 30-minute 5K, begin promptly at 9:30 AM to finish precisely by the deadline of 10:00 AM. The race concludes with an exciting dash for glory—those who cross the line first among the initial ten participants earn a unique and handcrafted Polar Bear trophy designed by local artist Roger Heil.
The integrity-focused event prohibits any timing devices, including watches or stopwatches, to ensure fair play. If you finish before 10:00 AM, your time won't count—yet another way to support the community while still enjoying a fantastic race! The cost is $20 for members and $25 for non-members until December 14th; registration on race day starts at $30 for members and $35 for non-members. Packet pickup will be conveniently available from 8:00 AM to 9:00 AM at Minnesota Treads.
This year, the course takes you through a picturesque trail near Minnesota Treads, with plans to utilize Cascade Lake as it perfectly aligns with our 5K route. The race starts and finishes on this scenic trail, offering runners an invigorating experience amidst nature's beauty. Don't miss out on becoming part of this annual tradition that promises fun and camaraderie.
After the run, celebrate your participation or victory at Charlie’s Eatery & Pub in their Event Center room where award winners will be announced. Enjoy a post-race beverage with friends and family before finding out if you’ve won one of these sought-after Polar Bear trophies. All are welcome to join this festive event!
