Port Kembla Public School - AusBike School Holiday Program
About the Event
Join us on Friday, July 17th, 2026, from 10am to 11:30am and 12:30pm to 2pm at Port Kembla Public School for our exciting bike skills sessions. These programs are designed to help children build confidence, control, and safe riding techniques in a supportive environment. Our beginner session is aimed at kids who can ride on their own but need to develop core skills further. This group will focus on foundational abilities such as one-handed riding for 20 meters, standing up while pedaling without losing balance, and navigating small obstacles like bumps or tree roots with ease. For those looking to take it a step further, our advanced session is perfect from 12:30pm onwards. It caters to confident riders eager to refine their skills and explore more complex maneuvers. Participants should be able to ride one-handed for longer distances, perform tricks such as standing up on the bike while pedaling, and confidently handle various terrains. Whether your child is a beginner or an advanced rider looking to improve, we have the right session waiting just for them. Our experienced coaches will ensure that each participant receives personalized guidance tailored to their skill level. To make the most of this opportunity, please bring along: - A well-maintained bicycle - A helmet - A water bottle - Comfortable clothing and closed-toe shoes The event takes place on the school’s Oval or Basketball Court. Access is via the carpark gate and main entry gate (Gloucester Blad). All sessions are free, fully funded by the NSW Government's Get Kids Active program. Important to note: Sessions will proceed even in light rain; however, if severe weather conditions arise, you will be informed of any cancellations beforehand. There is no biking on astro turf or along balconies during these sessions. Register now and watch your child grow both as a rider and an individual at Port Kembla Public School’s Bike Skills Program!
