Pound Ridge 5k and Kids Dash

The Pound Ridge 5k and Kids Dash returns to Pound Ridge, New York on July 4th, 2026, celebrating the 250th anniversary of the United States with a community tradition.
Race morning finds runners gathering at Pound Ridge Elementary School. The air is crisp as early risers prepare for their run through local streets, past historic homes and green spaces that dot the neighborhood. The race begins promptly at 9:00 AM; participants can start checking in from 8:00 AM to ensure they are well prepared.
This event marks its 28th year under the banner of tradition and community spirit. Since 1999, it has grown to attract over 500 runners annually, raising funds for scholarships at Pound Ridge High School. It is a race that unites families and friends alike in celebration of Independence Day.
The course venue offers a mix of paved roads and park paths. The 5K race starts from the Elementary School before winding through the town center and finishing back at Pound Ridge Town Park. For younger racers, there's a 1K run with busing to Beech Hill for their start point. The Kids Dash is entirely within the confines of the Town Park.
On race day, expect temperatures around 24 degrees Celsius, with a feel like that remains consistent. A light breeze will add to the pleasant conditions, but humidity levels at 76.7% may make it slightly muggy. While there's only a slight risk of rain (4.5mm), runners should still prepare for any weather.
The race offers three distances: the full 5K, the 1K run for ages 7 to 13, and the Kids Dash open to children aged 2 to 6.
Registration can be completed online or in person on July 2nd at Townhouse (179 Westchester Ave, Pound Ridge, NY) from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., with day-of registrations accepted via cash only. The fee for the 5K is $25 pre-race and $30 on race day; the 1K costs $15 or $20, while kids can participate in the Kids Dash for just $10.
Bibs are available at Townhouse during specified hours as well as on race morning. Participants must bring their own bibs with them. The 5K will conclude back at Pound Ridge Town Park where runners and spectators alike can enjoy a continental breakfast provided by Ridgefield Bagels post-race celebration.
