Since its inception in 1980, the Brno Twenty Five has become an integral part of the Czech autumn racing season. Founded by TJ Sokol Brno Žabovřesky and dedicated to endurance runners, this race offers a unique blend of tradition and modern athletic competition. For nearly four decades, it provided a challenging course through picturesque countryside around Brno.
In 1980, the first race was organized on the grounds of Sokol Žabovřesky with participants covering terrain that passed through Komín, Kníničky, Rozdrojovice and Jinačovice. This route offered a mix of rural roads and scenic landscapes, making it popular among runners who were looking for both training opportunities and competitive racing.
The race was notably absent in 1968 due to the Soviet occupation but resumed shortly after, maintaining its status as one of the most anticipated running events in Brno. In 2019, MARATON Brno took over from AC Moravská Slavia, who had been organizing it since 2007, and rebranded it under "BehejBrno_com". This new era brought fresh energy to the event while preserving its rich history.
Runners today can expect an engaging course that showcases the beauty of Brno's surroundings. The race route has evolved over time but continues to challenge participants with a mix of terrain, offering both flat stretches and hilly sections.
