PRUDHOE TOWN ROAD RACES 2026

Returning to Prudhoe Town this summer is the eagerly anticipated Prudhoe Miners Road Races on Sunday, August 30th, 2026. Organized by local partners including Prudhoe Town Council and Prudhoe Town Football Club, this road-closed event promises an exciting day for runners of all ages.
The races will kick off at 9:00am sharp with the main distances on offer being a scenic 5km route suitable for anyone aged 11 or older, and a challenging yet rewarding 10km course designed primarily for those aged 15+. Both routes start and finish at Prudhoe Town Football Club located at 10 Broomhouse Road.
The new and improved 5km and 10km courses have been well-received by previous participants. They offer a flatter terrain, making them ideal for both training runs and fitness tests leading up to the Great North Run just two weeks later. The shorter distance is also perfect for beginners looking to dip their toes into competitive racing or those aiming for personal best times.
For runners taking on the 10km challenge, this race presents an excellent opportunity to build endurance and test your limits in preparation for more significant events down the line. Meanwhile, the 5km route provides a manageable yet invigorating experience for newcomers who wish to participate without feeling overwhelmed by longer distances.
Participants will embark on out-and-back routes through Low Prudhoe Industrial Estate, offering glimpses of local industry while enjoying well-marked paths that have been accurately measured and recorded in Power of 10.
Timing services are provided by Timing Up North with live chip-timing to ensure accurate results for all participants. Due to road closures during the event, runners must complete their respective distances within a strict 90-minute cut-off time.
Upon crossing the finish line at Prudhoe Town Football Club, athletes will be greeted with medals and merchandise from Wild Deer as well as breakfast rolls to refuel after their efforts. The event not only celebrates athletic achievement but also fosters community spirit among runners of all ages in a picturesque setting around Prudhoe Town.
