The PTI 5k/10k Run on the Runway will take place on April 3, 2027, on the airport’s 9,000-foot parallel runway. This certified run benefits The Second Harvest Food Bank of Northwest NC, Greensboro Urban Ministry, and Open Door Ministries of High Point.
Everyone is invited to run, walk, stroll, or roll on the runway! With a flat, smooth course built for speed, it’s a great place to chase a personal best — or simply enjoy one of the most unique views in the Triad. The course is wheelchair accessible and stroller friendly, making it a fun experience for runners and walkers of all ages and paces.
Run on the Runway is your once-a-year chance to get an up-close look at the airport and runways from a perspective most people never get to see.
Because this event takes place in a secure airport environment, safety rules are part of the flight plan. Bikes, rollerblades, and inline skates are not permitted. Dogs and other pets are also prohibited. Thanks for helping us keep the runway safe, secure, and ready for takeoff!

Learn more about the host city, Greensboro.
Greensboro is a city of almost 300,000 people (2020) in North Carolina. It is named after Nathanael Greene, a Patriot general who fought a battle here during the Revolutionary War. It's nicknamed the "Gate City" for its historical role as a transportation hub for the Piedmont. The famous author William Sydney Porter, better known as O. Henry, was born here. It can be sleepy and genteel but is enjoying a newfound reputation as a great place for young people. Downtown especially is experiencing a surfeit of bars, music venues and restaurants. Greensboro, Winston-Salem, and High Point are the three cities that make up the Piedmont Triad, halfway between Raleigh and Charlotte.
