Experience the 8th annual Public Lands Ride at Black Moshannon State Park on September 26, 2026. This non-competitive mixed-surface event invites cyclists of all levels to explore the scenic trails and breathtaking views that Pennsylvania has to offer. Three distinct courses cater to different abilities: a challenging 45-mile route with more rugged terrain; an intermediate 65-mile course featuring steep climbs and diverse landscapes; and a beginner-friendly 22-mile option, which is mostly smooth and easy on the legs. Each course offers its own unique highlights, from rhododendron-filled stream valleys to expansive plateau views. Aid stations will be strategically placed every 15-20 miles along each route, stocked with real food options for your energy needs. Post-ride festivities include a meal and beer or non-alcoholic beverages, ensuring you can refuel and relax after the ride. Participants are encouraged to use tires at least 35mm wide; those opting for e-bikes must adhere to DCNR guidelines for trail usage. All courses will be clearly marked at turns and intersections to ensure your safety throughout the journey. The event promises a rich tapestry of scenery and atmosphere, with rolling climbs leading you through diverse terrains—from gravel paths to snowmobile trails. The 2022 event video offers a glimpse into what participants can expect this year. For those looking to make a difference, the fundraiser category allows riders who raise $500 by September 18 to enjoy free entry and camping for the weekend at Black Moshannon State Park's group campsite, complete with exclusive swag from partners. More details on setting up your fundraising page will be provided. The event schedule includes opportunities for overnight accommodations: a group campsite is available for $20 extra per person, or you can explore other lodging options like the park’s campsites and cabins or nearby hostels in Philipsburg. Volunteer roles are also open to those who wish to contribute without riding. Volunteers will receive free camping, food on event day, and swag from sponsors. Thank you for your support!
