About the Event

The Pune Union of Working Journalists (PUWJ) is set to make history with the launch of India's first-ever journalist-led public marathon on December 20, 2026. This landmark initiative will take place at Lt. Baburao Sanas Ground near Sarasbaug in central Pune and aims to promote community health and active living through a day filled with engaging activities for everyone.
The event features three distinct race categories tailored to different fitness levels and age groups:
- The 10.549 km Quarter Marathon is designed for serious runners aged 18 years or older, complete with electronic RFID chip timing.
- For those seeking a shorter challenge, the 5 km Fitness Run (open to adults aged 18+) offers an energetic race option.
- Young sports enthusiasts under 18 can participate in the 3 km Youth Run.
Participants will receive an official race kit that includes a dry-fit event T-shirt, standard chest bib with timing chips for Quarter Marathon runners, full on-course hydration and medical support, a commemorative finisher medal, digital certificates, and post-race refreshments.
