The Fährstraße Race Weekend returns for its 15th edition with an exciting lineup of events designed to challenge and delight cyclists from all walks of life. Set against the backdrop of picturesque landscapes, this year’s offerings include three distinct routes on the Fährstraße itself, catering to a variety of skill levels. For those seeking longer distances, there's also the opportunity to participate in the Nordkap Radmarathon 2026, which starts at 8:00 AM. The first 56 kilometers take place outside the main race route before merging onto it for the remaining distance. Cyclists will enjoy a mix of terrain as they navigate through rural and coastal areas. The Race on Fährstraße (RTF) kicks off with a mass start format beginning at 9:00 AM, ensuring an exhilarating launch into the day’s competition. The race route is well-supported every 30 kilometers or so by control points where cyclists can refuel both physically and mentally. These points are equipped with basic amenities including toilets for convenience. Warm meals await participants along specific stretches of the course in Gräpel, providing a chance to recharge after significant distances covered. Cyclists will also experience crossing the Oste river via a ferry ride during their journey. At the start/finish area, facilities such as showers and changing rooms are available for those who wish to freshen up before or after the race. While there is no secure storage option provided at either end of the route, cyclists can leave small bags or backpacks near designated areas without guaranteed protection against theft. Parking spaces are abundant both close to the start line and finish area along major roads such as A26, B73, and Obstmarschenweg. Public transport is also a viable option for those traveling from Hamburg, with S-Bahn services arriving at 7:30 AM and 8:30 AM respectively. Detailed directions are available on Komoot to help participants plan their journey efficiently from the train station directly to the start line. Registration opens online via Race Result starting July 28, 2025, allowing cyclists ample time to secure their spots in advance. Entry fees vary based on membership status and chosen distance; BDR members with a broad sports license pay €10 for RTF routes and €20 for the Radmarathon, while non-members incur slightly higher costs at €15 and €25 respectively. Late registrations will be accepted on race day but come with an additional fee of €5. The online registration window remains open until July 17, 2026, at noon, ensuring a smooth process for all participants looking to join this memorable cycling event. The Fährstraße Race Weekend promises not only competitive racing conditions but also stunning scenery and supportive communities along the way, making it an unmissable experience for cyclists across Germany.
