Step into an unforgettable night under the stars as you embark on the 2026 Night Owl Bike Ride. This unique and community-focused evening will take place from Raue Center For The Arts, located at 26 N Williams St., Crystal Lake IL. The event promises a thrilling ride through the picturesque landscapes of McHenry County. Starting your adventure with registration open from 7:30 pm to 8:45 pm on Saturday, August 8, 2026, you can pick up your race packet and enjoy the lively atmosphere at Raue Center. The long route will begin at 9:00 pm, covering approximately 20 miles, while a shorter family-friendly option of about 10 miles starts just five minutes later. After completing your ride, celebrate with fellow participants in the after party held at Raue Center from 9:30 pm to midnight. Enjoy live entertainment and refreshments as you contribute to local arts education through your participation. Every dollar raised stays within McHenry County, supporting scholarships for youth classes and summer camps, free tickets for veterans, affordable access for schools, and numerous other programs that enrich the community. Safety is paramount on this night ride. Mandatory safety gear includes helmets and lights or reflectors. Before starting, review the route to ensure a smooth journey. Observe traffic laws and carry identification along with at least one cell phone number of your group member registered when checking in. The bike must be in good condition, and riders should not exceed two abreast. Rest stops will provide water, restrooms, snacks, and basic first aid at Woodscreek Park. For updates on the event, follow Raue Center's Facebook page, where route links will be available approximately two weeks before the ride date. Volunteers are needed to ensure a smooth operation; visit their registration page for more information. The Crystal Lake Police Department will patrol alongside participants to guarantee safety and enjoyment. This is not a race but a community-driven ride that supports local arts access. Riders aged 18 and under must be accompanied by an adult throughout the event, ensuring everyone's safety on public streets shared with motor vehicles during evening hours. Register now for $38 before June 21st or $46 before August 7th; children (ages 12 and under) can join for just $18. Your registration includes a soft-style t-shirt and admission to the after party. After July 1st, t-shirts will be available while supplies last. Sponsorship opportunities are also open to support this community event. Show your commitment to McHenry County's bike-friendly initiatives by becoming a sponsor of Night Owl. Contact Meredith Schaefer Flowers at mflowers@rauecenter.org for more details on how you can contribute and gain exposure among area cyclists and families. Join the 2026 Night Owl Bike Ride, where every dollar raised supports local arts access, making this an event not just to participate in but also to support.
