Red Barn Challenge

The Red Barn Challenge returns for its seventh year, inviting runners to the picturesque Marzella Farm for an unforgettable endurance experience. This intimate setting offers a unique blend of scenic beauty and community spirit that has drawn participants back year after year, even through challenging weather conditions like hurricanes in 2022 and monsoons in 2023.
The race takes place on a one-mile loop with gentle elevation changes of approximately 70 feet per lap. The terrain is mostly grassy fields dotted with mulch paths and stone sections, winding around serene ponds that add to the tranquil atmosphere. Runners will encounter enthusiastic campers and volunteers along the way, providing encouragement throughout their journey.
The event features a variety of start times: participants can begin at 6 PM on October 2nd for the full 24-hour challenge or join in later with shorter options starting at 6 AM on October 3rd (12 hours) and noon on October 3rd (six hours). All runners converge to finish together by 6 PM, sharing a sense of accomplishment as they cross the line.
A key highlight is the extensive food aid station offering an array of nutritious choices such as potatoes, rice, broth, hydration options including Tailwind Hydration, plus additional treats. The race concludes with an award ceremony where top male and female finishers in each time category are recognized alongside other standout participants. Prizes include cozy sweatshirts or blankets to keep the warmth.
Camping is available for those who wish to extend their stay over the weekend, providing easy access to trackside campsites and parking areas near the race route. This event not only celebrates athletic achievement but also supports local organizations such as the Wiconisco Fire Company and area athletics programs through fundraising efforts.
Registration refunds are available at 50% until July 1st, allowing runners ample time to secure their spot for this unique adventure in Central Pennsylvania's rolling hills and scenic farmland.
