Red Cross Swim Lessons 2026

Learn to Swim sessions are set to take place at the Tama/Toledo Pool from June 29th through July 8th and again on July 13th until July 22nd. Each session runs for a total of four and a half hours, with classes scheduled twice daily at both 9 am and 10 am. Participants in Level 6 are exclusively accommodated during the morning sessions.
The Tama-Toledo Aquatic Pool Board aims to provide an inclusive environment where young learners can master essential swimming skills under professional supervision. Safety is paramount; hence instructors will be present throughout, either in or out of the water depending on the level. For beginners and intermediate swimmers (Levels 1-3), diving off the board during free time is prohibited for safety reasons.
Certified Water Safety Instructors from Tama and Toledo ensure a high standard of instruction. While younger instructors are trained as Aides, they bring an engaging presence to the lessons, particularly with smaller children. Interactive games will be used to make skill practice fun and educational. Class times conclude with 45 minutes of free swim time where kids can enjoy their newfound skills.
Parents should note that sessions for KID'S CORNER participants are specifically scheduled in the afternoon; those attending on Session Two days must join at 10 am. Cancellations due to unforeseen circumstances like pool malfunctions will be communicated via local radio station KIX (101.1 FM) and updated online through Facebook.
