The first leg of this year's grand prix takes place on December 10th at Cherokee Park in Louisville, offering a scenic four-kilometer (2.4 miles) run and walk along the park’s picturesque Scenic Loop.
This race is not just about hitting your stride; it’s an opportunity to embrace the festive spirit with fun challenges like the costume contest and Rudolph photo ops. Participants can look forward to age group awards, overall male and female winners, as well as masters and grandmasters categories. Each finisher will receive a commemorative medal that fits into the larger Polar Bear Grand Prix series finale.
The entry fee includes a long-sleeve race shirt, free photography services with Rudolph, and access to post-race photos for sharing your memorable moments online or on social media platforms. In addition to individual accolades, teams can join the Polar Bear Grand Prix Team Challenge across all three races in December, January, and February. This team event is open to 3-5 person groups in male, female, or coed divisions, with each winning squad receiving a special award for their efforts. Participants can opt to donate or fundraise during registration; raising $150 or more will waive your entry fee entirely and contribute significantly towards maintaining Louisville’s renowned park system.
