Rheiner Channel Triathlon 2026

On Sunday, August 9th, 2026, the SC Altenrheine hosts its annual Channel Triathlon, set to attract athletes from all over for an exhilarating day of competition. This year’s race features a unique twist: it's open exclusively to women and educators, aiming to foster camaraderie among participants while celebrating their achievements.
The event kicks off at 7:00 AM sharp with the swim segment in the adjacent Dortmund-Ems Canal. The water temperature will determine whether wetsuits are allowed; however, printed start numbers must not be worn during this phase. Instead, athletes can mark their start number clearly on either an arm or hand using waterproof markers.
The cycling portion follows immediately after a quick transition, taking competitors through scenic routes around Altenrheine. Participants should ensure their bicycles comply with DTU regulations and that helmets are in perfect condition—no cracks allowed—and securely fastened to prevent disqualification due to rule violations. Cyclists must maintain a 12-meter distance from the rider ahead when overtaking.
The race concludes with a run along carefully planned routes, offering runners support stations equipped with water dispensers throughout. Upon crossing the finish line, athletes will be greeted by an array of refreshments and prizes for top performers in various categories.
Participants are reminded to check the official website closer to the event date for detailed schedules regarding start times, transition areas setup instructions, and any additional rules or adjustments that may apply on race day. All competitors must attend a mandatory briefing approximately 15 minutes before their respective starts, where critical updates will be provided by race officials.
Registration closes either at midnight on August 6th, 2026, or when the event reaches its capacity limit. Those without pre-registered start passes for Olympic distance events are required to purchase a day license costing €21 from the organizing body directly.
