Immerse yourself in the Rhino Run, an exhilarating timed challenge that spans six hours and celebrates the vital mission of saving rhinos. This unique event offers runners the flexibility to tackle distances ranging from 5 kilometers all the way up to ultra marathon lengths within the allotted time frame. The race honors Chris Green, also known as "Rhino Boy Chris," who is dedicated to raising awareness for rhinoceros conservation efforts. A portion of the proceeds will be donated to support his cause, making your participation not just a personal achievement but a contribution to a greater good. Registration opens at 8:45 AM with the race starting promptly at 9:30 AM. The course is designed as an out-and-back route along an old railway line, featuring a tarmac path that stretches for approximately 3.28 miles per lap. Runners can opt to complete multiple laps, reaching milestones such as half marathon (4 laps) and full marathon (8 laps), with the option to continue into ultra distances by completing nine or more laps. At each turnaround point of the looped course, there will be a hydration station stocked with water, squash drinks, fizzy beverages, and an assortment of snacks. The event is designed for ease of navigation; runners can complete their final lap up until 5:59 PM to secure official timing results. The Skellingthorpe Community Centre provides ample parking space near the start/finish area on the playing field where portable toilets are conveniently located at a pavilion nearby. After crossing the finish line, participants will receive a custom Rhino-themed medal and a goody bag as tokens of appreciation for their effort and dedication to this noble cause.
