Immerse yourself in the exhilarating Rhino Run, an epic 6-hour timed challenge that invites participants to explore distances ranging from a 5k all the way up to ultra marathon lengths. This unique race not only celebrates athleticism but also supports Chris Green—better known as Rhino Boy Chris—in his mission to raise awareness for rhino conservation. Registration opens at 8:45 AM, with the event kicking off promptly at 9:30 AM on a scenic course that winds along an old railway line. The track features smooth tarmac paths punctuated by short stretches of grassy fields near both start and finish areas. With no navigation required, runners can focus entirely on their pace and distance goals. The loop measures approximately 3.28 miles (5.27 kilometers), making it easy to calculate your target laps based on the desired distance: a single lap for a 5k run, two laps for a 10k, four laps for a half marathon, eight laps for a full marathon, and nine or more laps for an ultra-distance challenge. Support stations are strategically placed at each end of the loop where participants can restock on water, squash, fizzy drinks, and snacks. These amenities ensure that runners remain well-hydrated and energized throughout their journey. Toilets will be available in a pavilion located near the playing field, providing convenient access for all competitors. Additionally, there is ample parking at Skellingthorpe Community Centre, ensuring easy arrival on race day. Upon crossing the finish line before 5:59 PM, participants are rewarded with a bespoke Rhino-themed medal and a goody bag filled with exclusive items commemorating their achievement. This event is licensed by the Trail Running Association (TRA) and adheres to UK Athletics rules, guaranteeing fair competition for all runners. The Rhino Run caters to athletes of various ages, setting specific distance limits based on age groups: 5000 meters for those aged 12-13 years; 6000 meters for participants between the ages of 14 and 15 years; 10,000 meters for runners from 16 to 17 years old; 25 kilometers for individuals aged 18 and 19; and no maximum distance limit for competitors age 20 and older.
