Experience the natural beauty of Fort De Soto Park as you join the annual Ride 4 the Animals race on November 14th. Nestled along Florida’s stunning coast, this event offers runners an unforgettable journey through nature's embrace.
Race day begins at Fort De Soto Park’s main entrance off State Road 60 near Dunedin Boulevard. The atmosphere is both serene and vibrant as families and dedicated volunteers prepare for a memorable day of camaraderie and charity. With expansive views and well-marked trails winding through lush landscapes, the park provides an ideal setting for runners of all skill levels.
The inaugural event in 2013 marked the beginning of this cherished tradition within the Dunedin community. Over the years, hundreds have participated annually, contributing to local animal welfare organizations. This race transcends mere running; it’s a chance to support and uplift animals that bring joy to countless lives.
Course venues feature hard and dry surfaces with minimal elevation changes, making them suitable for all participants. The 5K route passes by the park's historic lighthouse and nature center before looping around the lake area, offering breathtaking views at every turn. For those opting for longer distances—Sheltie (19.3K), The Mastiff (88.5K), or Labrador Half-Metric Century (49.9K)—multiple aid stations ensure safety and comfort throughout.
Race day is forecasted to be mild, with temperatures ranging from 15.6°C to a high of 25.5°C, creating comfortable conditions for runners. Low humidity at 71.6% and an average wind speed of 12.6 km/h bring pleasant breezes rather than strong gusts.

Bibs can be picked up from 7:00 AM to 9:00 AM on Saturday morning at the Dunedin High School Track located at 1500 W Temple St in Dunedin. Participants should bring their confirmation email as proof of registration.
The race commences promptly at 8:30 AM, welcoming all runners and walkers over the age of 14 with a warm embrace from the local running community. This event is more than just completing your chosen distance; it’s about making a difference in our communities through animal welfare.
