Oberrimsingen hosts an exhilarating race day that blends scenic runs through picturesque vineyards with the excitement of competitive school races. The main attraction is a 11.5-kilometer course, which winds its way along historic wine-growing villages like Oberrimsingen and Niederrimsingen before ascending to the Attila Rock for breathtaking views over the Rhine valley.
The race route then continues on the western slopes of Tuniberg hillside until it approaches Merdingen. As runners make their return journey, Freiburg’s skyline and the rolling hills of the Black Forest come into view in the distance. The final leg takes participants through Rimsingen's vineyards where stunning vistas continue to unfold at every turn.
For those interested in Nordic walking or a shorter challenge, there is also an alternative 5.5-kilometer course that branches off near Attila Rock and follows scenic paths back towards the start line at Franziskanerhalle Oberrimsingen on Birkenweg.
The event kicks off with races for younger participants: the "Race of the Youngest" (ages born in or after 2019) begins promptly at 10 AM, followed by a race tailored to primary school students up to fourth grade. A more challenging course awaits fifth through tenth-grade pupils shortly thereafter.
Competitors can pick up their start numbers and receive any necessary information from the event office located at Grundschule Oberrimsingen on Birkenweg starting at 8:30 AM on the day of the race. The official registration deadline is Wednesday, October 14th, 2026 (midnight), with late entries possible thereafter for a nominal fee.
All runners will enjoy chip-timed results available online via Raceresult shortly after crossing the finish line. Medals are awarded to all kindergarten and preschool participants in addition to trophies and certificates given out at an awards ceremony recognizing top performers across various age groups.
