Join us for the 5th Annual River Rock Run 5K, an enchanting evening race hosted by the BRRAlliance (Black Rock Riverside Alliance) on Friday, September 18, 2026. This sunset run starts at 6:00 PM and is designed to take full advantage of autumn's golden hour over the Niagara River. The event features a USATF certified course (#NY23023JJ), ensuring accuracy in distance measurement, with professional RFID timing by Race Management Solutions. The race begins and concludes within Riverside Park, offering runners stunning views along Hotaling Drive as they navigate through this historic Olmsted park. Participants will cross the I-190 pedestrian bridge before heading south on the scenic Shoreline Trail to Tow Path Park. The 5K route is meticulously designed for a smooth run under twilight skies, with sunset occurring at approximately 7:18 PM, providing runners ample light until dusk falls. After crossing the finish line, enjoy an afterparty complete with free food and drinks in Riverside Park's serene setting. For younger racers, we're introducing a new addition to this year’s event: a Kids Fun Run for children aged seven and under at 5:30 PM. This quarter-mile fun run is set up before the main race begins, offering kids an opportunity to experience the thrill of running in a supportive environment along with their peers. Registration fees are $30 per adult participant or $35 on race day; virtual runners can sign up for $35 and receive their t-shirt via mail. Kids' Fun Run registration is just $5 online or at the event. Early registrants who secure their spots by September 10th will be guaranteed a River Rock Run t-shirt, with additional shirts available on a first-come, first-served basis. Awards include finisher medals for all participants and custom decals for age group winners (first three male and female in each category). The race also offers stroller divisions for the youngest runners. Race results will be updated in real-time throughout the event via RFID timing technology provided by Race Management Solutions. About Buffalo
Learn more about the host city, Buffalo.
The largest city in New York State's Niagara Frontier, Buffalo is a city full of surprises. Though Buffalo is sometimes the butt of jokes about chicken wings, its long-suffering sports teams, and the mountains of snow under which it is supposedly buried each winter, those in the know tell a different story: one of vibrant nightlife, world-class museums and cultural attractions, tight-knit neighborhoods with strong community spirit – and the sunniest summers in Northeastern United States.
