Experience the breathtaking beauty of Alabama's Talladega National Forest with the 14th Annual Rockin Choccolocco Trail Race Series. This year’s lineup includes the challenging Pinhoti Trail UltraMarathon (50K), a scenic half-marathon equivalent (25K), and a shorter but no less spectacular 10K run, all of which traverse through some of Alabama's most stunning wilderness. The Rockin Choccolocco 50K is a point-to-point adventure that starts near Greenleaf Dam on FS 532 and finishes at the picturesque Cahulga Creek Park in Heflin. Runners will enjoy nearly nine hours to complete this grueling yet rewarding course, which features rolling hills, creek crossings, serene lakes, and lush forests along the Pinhoti Trail. For those seeking a more compact challenge, the Rockin Choccolocco 25K offers a lollipop-style loop starting and ending at Cahulga Creek Park. This race takes runners north on Heflin Spur to explore sections of the Pinhoti Trail before looping back through High Rock and returning via FS 531. The Rockin Choccolocco 10K, an out-and-back affair, provides a taste of both the beauty and challenge of the longer races. Runners start at Cahulga Creek Park and venture north on Heflin Spur to the Pinhoti Trail for about half a mile before turning back. Each race is punctuated by breathtaking scenery—wildflower-strewn trails winding through dense hardwoods, pine forests, and meandering creeks that add an element of adventure with every step. Aid stations are strategically placed along each route to ensure runners have access to water and other essentials without compromising the flow of this single-track trail experience. Participants can look forward to a day filled with natural beauty and camaraderie among fellow trail enthusiasts. The event concludes at Cahulga Creek Park, where all finishers receive medals marking their achievement. Awards are given for top overall male and female runners in each distance category, as well as master’s and grandmaster divisions. Packing light yet preparing thoroughly is key, with race day weather ranging from warm to chilly and potentially rainy conditions due to the forest setting. The Rockin Choccolocco Trail Race Series offers an unparalleled opportunity to connect with nature while pushing personal limits on some of Alabama's most scenic trails.
