Rocky Mountain Slam

The Rocky Mountain Slam returns to Logan, Utah on September 25th, a celebration of endurance running in the heart of the Rockies. This event, rooted deeply in the tradition of mountain ultramarathons, brings together some of the most challenging races across the American West. Participants will tackle distances ranging from 100 miles down to shorter, yet equally demanding events like The Bear 100, which is mandatory for all Slam completers.
Race morning in Logan typically sees runners gather along East 350 South near the city's bustling downtown area. With temperatures averaging around 17.6°C and humidity at about 52%, conditions are generally comfortable though slightly cooler than midday. The sun will likely be out, offering clear skies for much of the day with a slight risk of precipitation in the afternoon.
Since its inception over two decades ago, the Rocky Mountain Slam has evolved from an exclusive series to one that now welcomes runners through various optional races across Utah and beyond. In 2019, Ouray 100 was included as a substitute for Hardrock due to scheduling conflicts, marking adaptability within tradition. The latest iteration, RMS V2.0 in 2024, expanded the roster with additional options like Scout Mountain 100 and High Lonesome 100, ensuring that participants have more flexibility than ever before.
The Rocky Mountain Slam is known for its rigorous course requirements, which challenge even seasoned ultra runners. Participants must complete four races, with The Bear 100 as the mandatory finale.
