Rockys Backyard Ultra

Nestled just outside Estes Park, Colorado, Rocky's Backyard Ultra invites endurance runners to test their limits on private trails bordering the majestic Rocky Mountain National Park. This unique race challenges participants with an ever-evolving 4.167-mile loop that must be completed every hour until only one runner remains standing. The course features a grueling elevation gain of about 500 feet per lap, adding to the physical and mental demands of this ultra-distance event.
Runners will experience the stunning beauty of Colorado's mountains while navigating rocky terrain and steep climbs under ever-changing weather conditions typical for October in Rocky Mountain National Park. With temperatures ranging from chilly daytime highs in the mid-50s to freezing nights dipping into the 20s, competitors must come prepared with layers suitable for any scenario. The unpredictable nature of mountain weather means that a significant chance of snow is always present.
Upon completion or DNF (Did Not Finish), runners will receive a custom Fractel beanie and additional awards are up for grabs for those who make it to the 100-mile mark, including cash prizes totaling $1,000 and commemorative buckles. The race's stocked aid station ensures participants have access to essential supplies throughout their journey.
