Rokunohe Maple Photo Rogaine 2026 (六戸メイプルフォトロゲ2026)

Rokunohe, in eastern Aomori Prefecture, hosts this photo rogaining event, where teams use a map to visit a series of checkpoints around town. The town calls itself Maple Town after its official tree, the maple, and it is also known for crops such as nagaimo yams, garlic and burdock.
The format takes participants past scenery and corners of the town they might normally walk by, with the aim of finding lesser-known spots along the way. Walking, running, searching and photographing all form part of the day. The town also opened Aomori's first compulsory-education school, Rokunohe Gakuen, in April 2025, and the event sits within that broader effort to give the area a fresh image.
