The Rollercoaster MTB Fest offers an exhilarating mix of speed, skill, and strategy. This unique mountain bike competition features both timed races and lap-based events designed to challenge even the most experienced riders. The race format includes three-hour and six-hour time trials where participants aim to complete as many laps as possible within the given timeframe. Riders who match their number of completed laps will be determined by fastest completion times, ensuring a competitive edge.
Upon crossing the finish line at the large digital clock, riders can track remaining race time in real-time via an updated scoreboard located at the timing tent. This dynamic display keeps everyone informed and motivated throughout the event. Laps not completed before the designated end of each stage will be disqualified to maintain fair competition.
Participants can start their individual laps anytime during specified waves, allowing for strategic pacing and rest periods as needed. Completing just one lap is mandatory; otherwise, a DNF (Did Not Finish) penalty applies. Riders have the flexibility to continue racing or take breaks at any point, but must report any forfeited laps back at the timing tent.
The course includes diverse terrain such as cross-country trails, pump tracks, and dual slalom sections near the trailhead, providing an engaging mix of technical challenges and scenic beauty. Good trail etiquette is essential; slower riders yield to those in front when passing on the course.
Safety remains a top priority with mandatory helmet wear at all times. Riders must adhere strictly to marked routes, avoiding shortcuts that could result in disqualification. Mechanical issues require moving off the main trail for repairs to ensure smooth race flow and safety for others. Assistance from non-racers is limited to designated areas; help on course is permitted but must not impede other competitors.
Race officials oversee all aspects of conduct and equipment adherence. Cheating or unsportsmanlike behavior will result in penalties, including disqualification. Protests regarding results or conduct should be filed within 30 minutes post-event with race officials whose decisions are final. Riders are encouraged to exhibit good sportsmanship throughout the competition, ensuring a fair and respectful atmosphere.
For those interested in electric bikes (Ebikes), specific rules govern their use, ensuring fairness across all participants. Only Class 1 Ebikes up to 750 watts with speed limiters are allowed, emphasizing pedal assist only operation without throttle engagement. Battery changes or extenders must be approved by race officials and agreed upon by the entire group.
